Spiritual Revival Programme

- More than 170 churches, chapels, Sunday schools, Orthodox schools and orphanages built, restored or renovated since 2004.

- Support received by 178 religious, educational and social institutions in 27 regions of Russia and six other countries.

Pre-revolutionary Russia boasted centuries of tradition and spiritual wealth, reflected in artistic and literary works of genius. The historical heritage and spiritual values that had endured over the centuries have played a key role in forming the outlook of many generations. Unfortunately, much of this was destroyed in Soviet times, and some of it was lost forever.

The process of restoring lost national heritage and re-establishing spiritual traditions is now under way in Russia. Through its Spiritual Revival Programme, Volnoe Delo is involved in the construction of new Orthodox churches, the restoration and rebirth of ruined churches and monasteries, and supports the vulnerable. The Foundation supports Orthodox teaching academies and has a close interest in the publishing and distribution of Orthodox literature.
