Programs and projects in the area of science and education are one of the top priorities of the Volnoe Delo Foundation. The Foundation works to modernize Russian schools, to increase the quality and accessibility of education for every citizen. We help create the conditions needed to train high-level specialists that meet the requirements of today’s society, as well as to develop Russian science, the research and implementation of innovational methods and technologies.

These projects are carried out with support from federal and regional agencies, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the largest higher education institutions in the country. These projects cover all the major areas of Russian education and science:

  • preschool, elementary school, high school and additional education;
  • basic, intermediate and additional vocational training;
  • fundamental and applied sciences.

Since 1998 - the beginning of the Foundation’s activity – 25 programs and projects have been carried out. These programs have affected:

  • 35 regions
  • 520 schools
  • 4 000 teachers
  • 80 000 pupils
  • 69 universities
  • 500 university professors
  • 40 000 college students
  • 1 600 scientists
  • 18 vocational schools
  • 1 500 future qualified specialists

The Foundation’s projects in science and education have several priorities:

  • To assist in the modernization of Russian education, which includes breaching the gap between educational standards and the requirements of the modern market economy.
  • To introduce innovation into the educational process.
  • To increase the competitive power of Russian education on the global education market.
  • To help provide an equal opportunity in receiving a quality education to any child or young person, regardless of where they live.
  • To stimulate promising fundamental and applied research of young and leading scientists and research teams and to strive to create an environment that will deter “brain drain”.

All of the large programs in the field of education and science coincide with these priorities:

  • New Generation School
  • “Computers for Students”
  • Robotics
  • ALMA MATER
  • Support for Russian Science
  • New Generation Workers
  • Servicemen retraining
  • The “University Rating” Project
  • Kuban State University Scholarship Program

The Foundation also assists Russian-language educational institutions abroad. For example, in 2006-2008 the Foundation provided financial support to a Russian middle school in Tadzhikistan and purchased a multimedia and language class and equipped Russian language and math classes for the Russian-Tadjik (Slavic) University.
